the house and life

SO - Spurred on by the insults of W.H. Sansbury, I am blogging. We closed on the house 8 days ago and the rest is a blur. What appeared to be on layer of wallpaper is actually 8 - and in places the plaster and lathe behind is crumbling. and oh, did I mention, the room with all the pretty flowers (my boys bedroom) - that's not wallpaper - that's paneling. So it's been an adventure to say the least. We have 3 4 rooms essentially done, but 3 big rooms to go (kitchen, master bedroom and living room). The kids are going to grandmas for some quality time while we kill ourselves getting this done. Unfortunately, I didn't take before and after pictures of the rooms we've completed. All too hectic.

And by the way, I went to the big shin-dig willow creek leadership summit with my co-workers - you know, the mecca of mega churches. All kind of funny, and knowing my history with churches I got picked on a bit (but I picked back). Funny thing is, in spite of the questionable excesses I was deeply inspired by both bill hybels and rick warren. It was a healing experience in many ways and yet strange and uncomfortable (HOLY CRAP - I don't have a corner on the truth). It brought about a stronger resolve to be about and not against. I still have a knot in my stomach when I think of all the bench-sitters in God's kingdom, the dead weight that persists in coming because we keep them entertained and happy (guilt free and sin managed). But why can't I give that up to God and move on ?
